There were flooded roads and travel disruption over the weekend as the river Towy burst its banks.

Natural resources Wales put out flood warnings for most of Wales, with warnings still in place for the Lower Towy and the rivers Bran and Gwydderigas the South Wales Guardian went to press.

The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall from Friday evening and over the weekend.

Natural Resources Wales issued a warning saying that the rivers in flood could be dangerous and urging members of the public to stay away from the banks and notto attempt to walk or drive through floods.

Despite this there were reports of a driver, stranded in his van by on the A4069 near Llandovery having to be rescued by a specialist boat team from Mid and West Fire and Rescue.

On Sunday there was considerable water on the A4069 from Llangadog with locals reporting it as only accessible to high vehicles.

The A40 from Llangadog to Llandovery remained clear.

Over the weekend there were reports of flooding at Llwyn Jack, at the forge on the A40 at Llanwrda and by the old creamery Llangadog, with some roads being passable but with care.

Natural Resources Wales reminded the public that it was possible to monitor the flooding situation the River Levels, Rainfall and Sea Data part of its website.

It said that it was continuing to monitor the situation throughout Wales.
