Carol singing, mince pies and mulled wine will be just some of the things offered to visitors to a community shop’s Christmas celebration.

The Dryslwyn Community Shop and Post Office is thanking its loyal customers by inviting them all to an afternoon of Christmas celebrations on Thursday 15th December 2022.

It is hoped that the occasion will be a great opportunity to bring the entire community together ahead of Christmas, where residents can chat with neighbours and get to know each other better.

“The shop has always aimed to be a hub and bring the community together,” said volunteer coordinator Christoph Fischer. “I want to increase the social aspect and number of gatherings like this one to foster this.”

Another of the shop’s volunteers said: “We love the relationships we have built with our customers. I look forward to having the opportunity for longer chats over a mulled wine rather than over their shopping.”

The Dryslwyn Community Shop and Post Office has been going as a volunteer-driven operation since 2009, and particularly during the pandemic it has become a focal point in Dryslwyn.

The shop was previously awarded the Queens Award for Volunteers, and is now planning for a new building and expansion.
