Ammanford school pupils received a visit from Jonathan Edwards MP ahead of UK Parliament Week.

The MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr visited Ysgol Gynradd Rhydaman to discuss his role as a Member of Parliament, as the schoolchildren spent part of the week learning about Welsh and UK governments and parliaments.

UK Parliament Week, which runs from Monday, November 14 to Sunday, November 20, is an annual festival that engages people from across the UK with their UK Parliament.

Mr Edwards met with the School Council to discuss his role and partook in a Q and A from the pupils.

Jonathan Edwards MP said: “It is always a pleasure to attend schools in the constituency and discuss politics with the pupils.

“It was refreshing to see members of the school council so engaged and aware of the challenges we face as a community.

“The pupils ensured that the Q and A session was challenging, and I am sure many of the pupils will enter the political arena in the future.”

Llandeilo Brownies are also taking part in UK Parliament Week holding a voting activity and debate.

Applauding their efforts, Mr Edwards said: “It was an honour to send a video recording to Llandeilo Brownies ahead of their event as I will unfortunately be in London.

“It is great to see the Brownies getting involved and educating the young people about the importance of democracy and debating.”
