A tree has been planted by a school in Garnant to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

Ysgol y Bedol planted the tree in memory of the former Queen, and her service to all UK citizens across her 70-year reign.

The tree was donated by a pupil of the school, along with her parents, and the plabting ceremony took place on the school grounds in late September.

The event saw many members of the Garnant community attend, including multiple local public community support officers and Cllr Kevin Madge.

Cllr Madge said: “As councillor for the area, it was a huge honour to be there as the tree was planted to remember the life and work of Queen Elizabeth II.

“I hope the tree is there for many years and the schoolchildren who attend for the next few generations will be able to learn about Her Majesty and all she did.”
