A ROAD in Glanaman will be closed for six weeks to allow bridge repairs to take place.

Carmarthenshire County Council placed a public notice in the South Wales Guardian on Wednesday, August 31 to advise that Tirycoed Road will be closed to traffic for the bridge repairs to take place.

This closure, according to the notice, will take place from Monday, September 19 and will last for six weeks.

The work will be carried out Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm, however the road will be open on weekends.

It affects the stretch of the C2141 Tirycoed Road from 1.8 miles southeast of the junction with the C2137 for 35 metres in a south-easterly direction.

During the closure period, no vehicular traffic will be able to use the road, with exceptions for accessing properties where possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

An alternative route has been arranged. For southeast bound traffic, the route is via the C2141 in a north-westerly direction to the junction with C2137 passing properties known as Pantycoedcae and Cobblers Cottage.

Turn left at the junction and continue along the C2137 in a south-westerly direction to the junction with the C2192 passing properties known as Cae Grug and Llys Ty Gwyn.

At the junction, turn left and continue along the C2192 in a south-easterly direction to the junction with the A474.

At the junction, turn left and continue along the A474 in a north-easterly direction to the junction with the C2141 passing properties known as Brynderwen Farm and Old Coach House.

At the junction, turn left and continue along the C2141 in a north-westerly direction to return to a point south-east of the closure.

The public notice says for vehicles travelling north-westbound along the road, they should do the reverse of the above.
