"There are a great many job opportunities in Carmarthenshire for those who want to work."

That was the message from the Department of Work and Pensions as it gave the latest update on employment figures in Carmarthenshire.

Working with JobCentrePlus, the government department has said that there are plenty of opportunities for those unemployed to find jobs.

Since a year ago, it reports, there has been a decrease in Carmarthenshire benefit claimants from all ages by 36 per cent.

The same figure compared to five years ago is a decrease in Carmarthenshire claimants of 11 per cent.

A spokesperson from the Department of Work and Pensions said: “Shufflebottom Ltd in Cross Hands has also re-established their links with JCP and are offering manufacturing roles, Gomer Press Ltd in Llandysul has asked for support to fill their full time Bindery Operator position.

“Quinshield in Capel Hendre has re-established their links with the county’s Jobcentres to help fill their vacancies. They have several manufacturing posts currently being advertised.

“Coleg Elidyr is being supported in their need for Support Workers in Llandovery.

“Following on from Ammanford and Llanelli Jobcentre Provider Events that took place a few months ago, recently Carmarthen Jobcentre hosted their own event.

“Plans are underway to arrange more Jobs Fairs for Carmarthenshire across the three Jobcentre sites working in conjunction with Carmarthenshire County Council with dates to be arranged soon for the month of September.

“So, for jobseekers, and those who need help and advice, there are a great many events going on in the county that will continue throughout the year.

“Those seeking employment are urged to use all avenues to find those jobs such as company websites, the Find a Job and other Jobsearch websites, social media, and keeping eyes open for signs in business premises for staff.

“Those who are benefit claimants should use Jobcentre staff and the wealth of provision available to improve their prospects of gaining employment.

"Otherwise, non-benefit claimants should consider logging on to the Careers Wales website and setting up an interview with a careers advisor.

“Employers are still finding it difficult to employ all of the staff that they need so there are a great many opportunities in Carmarthenshire for those who want to work."
