NINE people from Ystradgynlais have recently appeared in court for a range of offences.

Gregory Niall Clancy, 39, of Lluest, Ystradgynlais, admitted being drunk and disorderly at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on July 18.

He committed the offence on Brecon Road on July 2 and was fined £333 and ordered to pay £133 surcharge and £85 costs.

John Davies, 26, of Midland Terrace, Ystradgynlais, admitted possession of a class B drug at Cardiff Magistrates Court on July 2.

He was caught with two grams of cannabis on May 25. He was fined £80 and the cannabis was destroyed. He also had to pay £34 surcharge and £85 costs.

Rowan Saunders Davies, 41, of Oddfellows Street, Ystradgynlais, admitted drink driving at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on July 18.

He was caught on July 2 with 53microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. He was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £768. He also had to pay £307 surcharge and £85 costs.

Kyle Kenneth Lewis, 30, of Dolfaen, Ystradgynlais, admitted failing to comply with a community order at Swansea Magistrates Court on July 7.

He made the breach by failing to attend unpaid work on May 21 and June 11 and failed to provide acceptable evidence. He was ordered to pay £60 costs and his initial order was adjusted. He is under an electronic curfew between 8pm and 6am until August 17 and to continue his unpaid work.

Caroline Goode, 40, of Pen y Bryn, Ystradgynlais, was found guilty of driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence by Cardiff Magistrates Court on July 8.

She was caught driving a Vauxhall Astra on May 15 on Greenfarm Road otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising her to drive a vehicle of that class. She was fined £220 and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.

Gareth Thomas, 44, of Pen y Bryn, Ystradgynlais, admitted harassment without violence at Swansea Magistrates Court on July 12.

He committed the offence between September 1, 2021, and January 26, 2022, by continuing to contact his victim despite not receiving a response.

A restraining order has been made against him so he is not allowed to contact the victim even via third party, or approach the victim, the victim’s address or any premises the victim is in and not to enter any data or cause, permit or encourage a third party to enter any data on any electronic device, network or the internet that refers to the victim directly or infers the victim.

The order lasts until July 11, 2023. He was also fined £80 and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and £85 costs.

Thomas Rees-Farrell, 30, of Dolfaen, Ystradgynlais, admitted criminal damage at Merthyr Tydfil on July 8.

He committed the offence on June 18 when he defecated and urinated on a stairwell at Matthew Street Flats. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £80 surcharge and £85 costs.

He was also fined £100 for failing to surrender to Swansea Magistrates Court at the appointed time on July 6.

David John McCarron, 38, of Dolfaen, Ystradgynlais, admitted speeding at Swansea Magistrates Court on July 6.

He was caught on November 30 doing 49mph on the A4067 Godre-r-Graig junction with Graig Newydd, where the limit is 40mph. He was fined £66 and given three points on his licence. He also had to pay £34 surcharge.

Jazmin Bernice Stead, 21, of Lluest, Ystradgynlais, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis at Swansea Magistrates Court on July 5.

She failed to provide the specimen of blood on April 29. She was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, pay a £95 surcharge and £85 costs.
