Record-breaking heat is set to hit parts of Wales today as temperatures are predicted to hit 36C in North Wales.

Parts of England have been given a red weather warning for today, where the temperatures could soar as high as 40C.

Meanwhile, here in Wales, an amber weather warning remains in place today and tomorrow.

North Wales will see top temperatures of 36C in the mid-afternoon.

In Wrexham, including the town centre and villages like Llay and Brymbo, temperatures are expected to peak at about 36C between 2pm and 6pm.

It will begin to cool in the evening, with temperatures dropping to 28C or lower by 9pm.

In Llangollen in will be much the same, with temperatures peaking at 36C between 3pm and 5pm.

Bwlchgwyn will have the coolest temperature in Wrexham, falling to 23C at 10pm. There might even be some light showers.

In Flintshire, temperatures will reach a peak of 36C in the mid-afternoon.

In Mold, temperatures will peak at 35C between 2pm and 5pm, before dropping to 25C by 10pm.

In Deeside, temperatures are expected to reach 36C between 3pm and 5pm. Temperatures will fall to 27C by 10pm.

In Flint, the hour between 3pm and 4pm will be the hottest with temperatures reaching 36C.

In Holywell, the temperature will reach a high of 34C after 2pm.

The coolest temperature is likely to be 26C in Holywell after 9pm.
