Cross Hands park home residents are being left in the dark concerning the support they will receive to help towards their energy bills.

Because park home residents don’t receive their bills directly from an energy supplier, the residents on the Poplar Court site in Cross Hands remain unsure of how their £400 Energy Support Grant payments are going to be made.

Now Llanelli MP Nia Griffith, is calling on government ministers to explain how permanent park home residents such as those in Poplar Court will be included in the support packages.

“Many of those living full time in park homes are pensioners on fixed incomes who are very concerned about their impending energy bills,” said Nia Griffith who met with Poplar Court residents earlier this week.

“They are understandably anxious to know if and how they will be able to access this grant.

"I can see why it would not be desirable to make multiple separate payments to site owners for each individual household and I have already asked Carmarthenshire County Council about whether they have been approached about being involved, as they will naturally have all the information necessary to make things simpler.

"But once again last week they confirmed that, to date, they have received no information.

"It's only fair to the residents that a sensible way forward is found as soon as possible so that they know for definite that they will be getting all the help they rightly deserve.

“This issue really needs to be addressed by the UK Government."

Earlier this week Ms Griffith raised the matter in Parliament during Wales Questions.

She has also contacted David TC Davies concerning the issue, who is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Wales Office.
