A massive search operation has been underway in the Brechfa Forest after a person was reported missing on Friday morning.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers were joined by highly skilled searchers from the Western Beacons Mountain rescue teams along with two search rescue dogs and their handlers.

The rescue operation continued in each of the key areas in the Brechfa Forst throughout Friday however when daylight began to fade at around 8.30pm, the team were forced to stand down without a find.

“We resumed our search at first light on Saturday and I’m pleased to say that the missing person was located by one of the police patrols just before lunchtime,” commented a spokesperson for the Beacons Mountain Rescue team. “This was a truly great outcome after such a long and intricate search,”

The Western Beacons Mountain rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which carries out life-saving duties throughout the Brecon Beacons as well as the communities of South, West and Mid Wales. The team is on call 24 hours a day and for 365 days a year.
