The healing power of crystals will be arriving in Ammanford this week when Lowri Thomas realises her long-time dream with the opening of ‘The Crystal Jar’ in the town's arcade.

For as long as she can remember Lowri, who works as a dental nurse and practice co-ordinator at the Brynteg Dental Surgery in Brynamman, has wanted to nurture her love of crystals by opening her own shop.

And this Friday, her dream will become reality.

“It all began when one of my daughters began suffering from anxiety issues when she was around 12,” says Lowri.

“She began reading about the healing properties that are attached to crystals and her interest in them grew to the extent that she started buying and selling little mystery boxes.”

And in no time at all, Lowir was just as passionate about the beauty of  crystals as her daughter.

“During the first lockdown we started buying and selling through online stores and then, as things began to ease, we started renting shelves in local pop-up shops and had stalls at weekend markets and craft fairs.

"This was when I started thinking hard about moving on to the next stage and opening our own shop.”

So when Number 5, The Arcade recently became available, Lowri wasted no time at all in stepping in and claiming it for 'The Crystal Jar'.

In addition to an extensive range of crystals which Lowri sources from all over the world, The Crystal Jar also stocks a wide range of personalised items, gifts and jewellery.

When Lowri is busy tending to patients at the dental surgery, the shop will be managed by her eldest daughter, Seren Evans.

The Crystal Jar opens this Friday, April 29, at 10am. The opening hours will be Tuesday to Friday, 10am- 4pm and Saturday, 10am-2pm.

When the shop is closed, customers can purchase through the website. The Crystal Jar 5 The Arcade, Ammanford, SA182LN www.thecrystaljar.net

Free parking is available in the town's short stay car parks between 10am and 2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
