A former soldier who uses cannabis for medicinal purposes to counterbalance his PTSD has been ordered to pay £239 by Llanelli magistrates for driving whilst over five times the legal drug-drive limit.
Callum Feneck, 40, of Glyn Celyn, Pentwyn, was seen by police driving his white Mercedes Benz Sprinter into the Leekes car park, Cross Hands, at around 1pm on December 2.
After approaching the car, officers noticed an over-powering smell of cannabis emanating from the interior.
A drug swipe was carried out which proved positive and Feneck was taken to Ammanford custody suite where he gave a blood sample with a reading of 11mcg of Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol. The legal limit is 2.
Representing Feneck, Miss Jessica Smith said that her client’s experiences from serving in the army have had a detrimental impact on his health and he consequently uses cannabis Delta-9 for medicinal purposes.
After pleading guilty to the offence he was fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
