A MOTORIST has been banned for 17 months for drink-driving. Thomas Shane Davies, 30, of Oakhill Way, Pontardawe, was driving on Swansea Road, Trebanos, Pontardawe on October 18, with 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit is 35. Davies admitted the charge and was banned for 17 months at Swansea Magistrates’ Court and fined £400. He must also pay £40 to fund victim services and £85 costs.

HOLLY Elisabeth Vipond, 33, has been fined £220 for driving a car with no MOT in Tycroes. The 33-year-old from Stryd Bennett, Llanelli, was not present for the hearing at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court and the case was proved in her absence. She must also pay a £34 surcharge and £90 costs.

JOHN Lee Evans, of Mount Pleasant, Pontardawe, failed to give the information of a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence in Rhydyfro, Pontardawe. The 49-year-old was fined £660 by Cardiff Magistrates, must pay a £66 surcharge and £90 costs. The case against him was proved under the single justice procedure. His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

VERINA Gee, of Pen y Bont, Guest House, Llangadog, failed to give information of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence. The 59-year-old was fined £660 by Llanelli Magistrates. The case was proved in her absence under the single justice procedure. She must also pay a £66 surcharge and £90 costs. Gee was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending.

OZGUR Babahan, of Thomas Street, Pontardawe, has been fined for exceeding the 40mph speed limit in Neath. The 30-year-old was driving a Volvo on the A4067, on May 4, at a speed of 50mph. The case against him was proved under the single justice procedure on November 1 at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court. Babahan was fined £220, must pay a £34 surcharge and £90 costs. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

MICHAEL Douglas Peete, of Alltwen Hill, Alltwen, Pontardawe, has been convicted of failing to give information of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence. Magistrates in Cardiff found the case against him proved under the single justice procedure and fined the 47-year-old £660, he was also ordered to pay a £66 surcharge and £90 costs. His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
