PLANS are underway for a Christmas fair with skating rink in the Amman Valley.

Named the Amman Valley Christmas Experience, the fair will open on Friday, November 26 at Studt's Fairground in Brynamman.

Fairground rides, skating rink and Santa’s grotto, will be among the attractions at the Christmas fair.

There will also be a chance to visit 'Elsa' from Frozen, who will provide some musical entertainment from her magical princess forest complete with castle.

Billed as the Amman Valley’s biggest winter fair, the Christmas experience, on Station Road, will offer plenty of fun for a full day out, with lots for the adults too with a food court and undercover drinks bar.

All proceeds from the fair will be going to Joseph Yeandle, the three-year-old from Brynaman, who is currently fighting a rare form of cancer.

Joseph was diagnosed in April with stage 4 neuroblastoma with just a 50 per cent chance of survival.

Since Joseph's diagnosis his family have been desperately fundraising to get Joseph lifesaving treatment abroad, which could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Joseph’s Aunt Emma said Margaret Studt, of Studt’s fairground, came up with the Christmas fair idea to help boost the fundraiser.

Emma said: “Margaret spotted a picture of Joseph in the window of Brynaman pharmacy and she told me that his story really pulled on her heartstrings and she was compelled to do something to help.”

Margaret reached out to Joseph’s family and revealed her Christmas fair plans.

“We couldn’t believe it,” said Emma.

“This wonderful woman is not only doing something that is set to benefit the whole community but she is also donating all the proceeds to Joseph’s fund.

“We were blown away.”

Citing the Covid-19 pandemic and the effect it has had on the local community, Emma said: “The last two years have been awful for everyone in the area and the wider community, so this fair is going to be so uplifting and the most magical family experience for everyone - it'll be the biggest in the Amman Valley.

“Also, it is going to raise some much needed funds for Joseph and has certainly put a smile back on all our faces."

The fair will launch on Friday, November 26 at Studt’s fairground, Station Road, Brynamman.

Entry will be free with a charge for the attractions.

Those would like to volunteer at the fair are asked to get in touch.
