AMMANFORD Town Council has been lending its support to local businesses by holding competitions for residents with prizes that can only be spent in town centre shops.

Over the Easter holidays under 12s took part in an Easter bonnet competition.

The winner was Pixie, aged nine, who won £50 worth of vouchers to spend in the town's shops in a bid to help boost local trade.

Olivia came in second place, winning £30, and Scarlett was named the third place winner, claiming her prize of £20.

The best shop window competition was won by 925 Treats on Quay Street. Shop owners Gemma and Andrew were presented with a plaque, made by Ammanford's Chris y Crydd.

Meanwhile, a window display competition for Ammanford residents was won by Cordelia McAvoy who won £100, Linzi Davies, £50 and Siwla Virago £30. All prizes given as gift tokens to spend in local shops.

Ammanford Councillor Llio Davies said: “Thank you to everyone that took part in the competitions, we had another lovely response from the people of Ammanford.

"We are always trying to come up with new ways to boost moral in the community during these difficult times as well as helping out the local traders, who have suffered greatly throughout the pandemic.

"It is great to see people taking part in the competitions and we hope to continue to run more throughout the year."
