ORGANISATIONS in Carmarthenshire are being invited to find out about a new fund for projects that will support people into employment, invest in local businesses and communities or boost the skills of local people.

Carmarthenshire County Council is administering a new UK Community Renewal Fund provided by the UK Government to help local areas prepare for the launch of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022.

The fund aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK to pilot programmes and new approaches and will invest in skills, community and place, local business, and supporting people into employment.

Ideas that have the greatest potential to deliver against key local priorities to help Carmarthenshire’s economy recover from the Covid-19 pandemic will be prioritised.

These priorities include safeguarding existing businesses, supporting new start-ups and growing businesses; protecting jobs and helping people gain skills for current and future jobs; and investing in Carmarthenshire’s strategic growth areas, town centres, the rural economy and deprived communities.

Projects should be mainly revenue based however a small amount of capital funding is available.

Ideas should be submitted to Carmarthenshire County Council by May 5, 2021.

Following an assessment process by the council and the UK Government, funding is expected to be released to successful bids in July.

Successful UK Community Renewal Fund bids will be for 2021/22 only and activity must end by March 2022.
