The Met Office has extended a yellow weather warning for ice and snow across the region.

The warning was originally set to end today but has been extended to Sunday, January 24 at 6pm across south Wales include Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.

A band of rain is set to turn readily to snow as it spreads eastwards leading to possible transport disruption.

There will probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, increasing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.

Some roads and railways likely to be affected by snowfall, with longer journey times by car as well as bus and train services.

Steve Willington chief forecaster for the Met Office said: “The exit of Storm Christoph – which brought the heavy rain to a central band of the UK – has established a flow of colder air from Iceland and the Arctic. And this is bringing a mix of wintry hazards across the UK.

“In clearer conditions, overnight ice will remain a hazard, while a band of snow is likely to bring falls of 1-3cm.”
