Llandybie Community council has invested over £50,000 into park refurbishment works at Trefrhiw, Penybanc.

The council took over park maintenance from Carmarthenshire county council in 2017 as part of the asset transfer programme.

The community council has made over £200,000 of improvements to the eleven play areas that it now has responsibility for.

The views of local residents and children were sought so that the park catered for local needs.

Despite delays due to Covid-19 the contractors, Sunshine Playgrounds Ltd, completed the work in time for the school half-term break.

Chairman on the council Cllr Anthony Davies said: “This is huge local investment into our children’s play areas. We continually monitor our eleven parks which had been grossly under funded for many years prior to transfer three years ago. I am pleased to report that that we have been able to undertake these park investments without an increase in the Council precept which has remained unchanged for the last three years.”
