FORMER Amman United youth player Jac Morgan again captained Scarlets on Friday as they took advantage of a break in their Pro14 season to play a friendly against Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Morgan, from Brynamman, started at openside flanker as the region won 36-10.

The 20-year-old will now be firmly in the frame to be involved this weekend when when his side host Edinburgh on Sunday, especially with Josh fellow flankers Josh Macleod and James Davies ruled out through injury and international duty respectively.

It was a very useful workout for Morgan and the Scarlets, who were able to get a win on the board after three straight competitive defeats.

The west Walians had too much firepower for the hosts, particularly up front, dominating the match from the word go.

Short-range tries from front-rowers Javan Sebastian and Marc Jones, coupled with five points from the boot of Angus O’Brien saw the visitors lead 15-0 at the interval.

Then it was the turn of the replacement half-backs to take centre stage with scrum-half Will Homer (2) and fly-half Sam Costelow crossing in the second period, with O'Brien and Costelow (2) adding conversions.

The home points came via a Will Reed penalty and conversion, plus a try by Jared Rosser.
