FOODBANK officials have made a desperate appeal for donations from the public as more families struggle during the pandemic.

Stock at Amman Valley Foodbank almost dried up last week as volunteers were left with the difficult task of sharing out what little they had to support families.

The organisation has issued a plea requesting donors urgently help replenish stocks.

A statement said: "Last Saturday we really struggled to make up all the parcels due to our depleting stock on our shelves.

"The number of people coming to us for help has risen over the last few weeks which has tipped the balance of what we get in donations to what we send out.

"We try not to ask too much from you lovely people as we know many are facing harder times during this pandemic.

"We appreciate from the bottom of our hearts with what we are receiving in donations but unfortunately we need more so we can help more."

Amman Valley Foodbank at the community centre, Gwaun cae Gurwen is open today (Friday) from 10am to 12 noon to accept donations.

If you can't make it on a Friday you can get in touch with foodbank officials who can help make alternative arrangements. You can ring the foodbank on 07394 904324.
