POLICE have issued a warning to parents in Ystradgynlais to keep their children away from a "collapsed" bridge.
An emergency road closure was put in place earlier this week by the county council after the flood defence wall collapsed into the river Tawe leaving the historic Teddy Bear bridge perched on an unstable section of wall.
Residents have been told the bridge could completely collapse at any moment.
Wayne Thomas, chairman of Ystradgynlais Town Council, called it an ''emergency situation''.
A police spokesperson said: "Appeal to parents to speak to their children after seeing a number of children climbing over the barriers surrounding Teddy Bear Bridge in Ystradgynlais.
"Both ends of the bridge have been barricaded and we would advice the public to keep away from the area."
