The Miner’s Theatre in Ammanford will host a free open day on the last Friday of January and the local community are invited inside to explore the theatre and meet the team.

The first open day will take place on Friday, January 31 from 10am – 3pm. Guided tours are planned for 11am and 2pm when there will be an opportunity for the public to find out more about the historic building and look behind the scenes. Members of the box office and marketing team will also be on hand to share details of the new shows that will be coming to the Miners’ this spring. Tea and coffee will also be provided.

Going forward in 2020, the Miners’ box office will be open on the last Friday of every month as part of Theatrau Sir Gȃr’s plans to develop links with the local Ammanford audience and widen access to the theatre.

Talking about the plans, Theatres Development Manager, Sharon Casey said, “The Miners’ Theatre is a beautiful old building and it holds a great deal of history with the town as it was built for the local miners and their families in the 1930s. It’s also a very special place to perform due to the wonderful acoustics and its unique charm. We’re very keen that as many local people as possible can enjoy this theatre and the range of shows on offer. We have a lively and varied programme of events planned for spring 2020 with everything from children’s shows to gala concerts, live music, drama and comedy so there should is something to suit all tastes.”
