AN YSTALYFERA man has been jailed for ignoring a court order just hours after being fined for breaching the same order.

Barnaby Fletcher, aged 34, had been fined £80 after Debbie Evans, his former partner, found him standing in the kitchen of her home.

Fletcher, of 4 Prospect Place, had been ordered to stay at least 100 metres away from her after he had been convicted of assaulting her.

Magistrates made a restraining order but on December 1 he managed to get into the kitchen.

Robin Rouch, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court that Fletcher appeared in court the following day and was fined.

But within hours he was making telephone calls to her using a friend’s mobile and then sent her text messages.

Fletcher admitted breaching the order and was jailed for 12 weeks.

Judge Nicola Jones told Fletcher he had been persistent and clearly had no regard to court orders.

Nor had he shown any remorse or insight into his offending.

Fletcher must also pay a £122 court surcharge.

Judge Jones told Fletcher the restraining order remained in place.
