Amazing walks, fascinating talks, great events, cracking courses and FREE entry every weekday in January – that’s what’s on offer at the National Botanic Garden of Wales this month.

It’s the start of our 20th birthday year and we have plenty of treats for you including a series of free Friday lunchtime talks focusing on plants, climate change and the role botanic gardens are playing in tackling and adapting to this global challenge.

The first talk is on January 10 and is entitled: “Tree Rings and Climate Change, Looking Back to See the Future” by Professor Mary Gagen, of Swansea University. Mary will share stories hidden in ancient trees from around the world and explore how trees can start conversations about climate change.

Make a date on Saturday and Sunday January 11-12 with our Woodcraft Weekend, which features all that is good about wood including wood-turners, lovespoon-carvers, stick-makers, power tools and pyrography.

In celebration of the Visit Wales ‘Year of Outdoors’, there is a series of trails around the Garden to help you get your steps up and burn some of those festive calories – pick up a leaflet on your way in.

There’s also hard-hat tours of our Regency Restoration landscape and lakes, ‘welly’ fun for pre-school tots every Tuesday and Wednesday, a Food Fair, an Antiques Weekend and lots more besides.

For details of all our events, visit botanicgarden.wales, email info@gardenofwales.org.uk or call 01558 667149.

Admission to the Garden is free every weekday and just £6 at weekends.
