A Glanaman man has died after being run over by his own car.

Arwyn Ward was found trapped beneath his car in the driveway of his home in Maes Llewelyn on October 7.

Ammanford firefighters attended the scene and released the 66-year-old using specialist equipment. Firefighters also administered first aid before he was taken to hospital by Ambulance.

Police have now confirmed he passed away four days later.

It is unclear what exactly happened, but residents have described the scene saying, “one of the neighbours turned the engine off and put the hand brake on.

"The car was in the reverse position going down the drive."

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Officers were called to Maes Llewelyn in Glanaman at around 8.45am on Monday, October 7, to a report of a collision involving a single vehicle. A man was found to be trapped under the car, and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"Sadly, the man passed away on October 11."

His next of kin have been informed.

Carmarthenshire coroner has confirmed that an inquest into Mr Ward’s death has been opened and adjourned to a later date.
