One man has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A48 near Cross Hands.

The incident occurred at 8.30am on Tuesday, July 23.

A spokesperson for Wales Ambulance Service said: “We were called on Tuesday, July 23 at approximately 08:32am to reports of road traffic accident near Cross Hands.

"We responded with one rapid response vehicle, one ambulance and we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance as well as the Police and Fire & Rescue services.

"One patient was transported by road ambulance to Morriston Hospital, Swansea.”

A48 Cross Hands to Pont Abraham eastbound was closed for a around three hours but the road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "A48 between Cross Hands and Pont Abraham is now open."

A spokeserons for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: " Crews from Tumble and Pontarddulais attended a road traffic collision, involving one van and one large goods vehicle, on the A48, eastbound, between Pont Abraham and Cross Hands.

"Firefighters released a male casualty, who was medically trapped, using hydraulic cutters and spreaders and stabilised the vehicles using small gear, chocks and blocks and a winch.

"The casualty was conveyed to hospital."
