Pupils from an Ammanford primary school have won a national Welsh book quiz competition.
Year 6 children from Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman took part in ‘Darllen Dros Gymru' held by the Welsh Book Council in Aberystwyth recently.
After winning the county round, they went ahead to represent Carmarthenshire in the final which included 16 other schools from all over Wales.
A spokesperson for Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman said: "They had to read and discuss a different novel for each round and act a presentation based on another novel on stage.
"They won the first prize for the best discussion group, third for the best presentation and also first overall for the whole competition.
"After a very successful day in Aberystwyth, they celebrated with chips and ice cream in Aberaeron on the way home and also stopped by the iconic ‘Cofiwch Dryweryn’ wall in Llanrhystud because they had been studying the history of Tryweryn as part of their theme work in class last term."
