CYCLING fans can enjoy a superior digital training experience at the newly launched and upgraded spin studios at Llanelli and Amman Valley leisure centres.

Actif Sport and Leisure have invested £80k in top of the range spin bikes with in-built advanced technology and world-class on-screen virtual training which will transform its indoor cycling provision. It follows the launch of the state-of-the-art spin studio at Carmarthen Leisure Centre in December.

The boost in cycling facilities is yet another step towards Carmarthenshire becoming the Cycling Hub of Wales; and with the final stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour taking place in Carmarthenshire on Saturday, June 15, there is no better time to get on your bike.

Executive Board Member for Culture, Sport and Tourism Cllr Peter Hughes-Griffiths said: “The new spin bikes at Amman Valley and Llanelli have many features and benefits that will appeal to beginners as well as providing more serious cyclists with key statistics and technology that they long for during their training programmes.

“We have no doubt that the new spin studios will significantly enhance customer experience and satisfaction as well as increase income and have a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing.”

The IC6 bikes are one of the most advanced indoor spin bikes on the market giving users an immersive virtual experience with MyRide on-screen instruction that is sure to deliver results and interactive scenery from all over the world for a fun, challenging workout; as well as the ability to view, save and track their training.

Council Leader Emlyn Dole was given the opportunity to trial the new bikes; he said: “I am delighted that more people than ever are using our leisure centres to get fit and healthy.

“It is very important that we continue to invest in our leisure centres and provide members with modern, hi-tech facilities; with further investment planned at both Amman Valley and Llanelli.

“I am particularly pleased to see the new spin studios which will be of benefit to existing users and hopefully encourage more people to give cycling a go. It is particularly relevant given our ambition to become the Cycling Hub of Wales and with the Women’s Tour taking place in Carmarthenshire very soon.”
