Two friends who wanted to thank a charity who helped them say their goodbyes to their friend before he passed away have completed their fundraising mission.

Ray Thompson and Matthew Peters climbed Pen Y Fan five times wearing manikins on Thursday, March 28 to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance and to remember pal Simon Jones on his 24th birthday.

Simon was killed in a car accident on the M4 last year.

Ray and Matthew believe the reason they got the chance to say their farewells to Simon was down to Welsh Air Ambulance who got Simon to the hospital in time for them to say goodbye.

Ray said: “We started at about 7.30am and finished at 5pm.

"We had breaks between when family members of Simon's came to cheer us on.

"We have smashed our target of £1000 and there are still people donating.

“We will be leaving the justgiving page open for another two weeks for anyone that would like to donate.

“Me and Matthew are so grateful for all the support that we have received along the way.

“A big shout out to the people who came along on the day and who walked up the mountain and who came along to support us.”
