Pontarddulais, Hendy and District Festival Committee has announced that they will be hosting their first ever ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition which kicks off next month.
The heats take place on April 30, May 7, May 14 and May 21 at Pontarddulais RFC.
The winning band will be invited to play at Pontarddulais rugby pitch at the village's ‘Party on the Pitch’ on June 29 plus a paid gig at the rugby club.
An organiser told The Guardian: “We have finished the tradition carnival after 50 years but will still be running the carnival fete on the field with live acts.
“Normally the fete finishes at 5pm but this year the summer fete will be followed by the Party on the Pitch in the evening at Coed Back Park in Pontarddulais.”
