The largest independent builders’ merchants in South Wales is relocating its Head Office in 2019 due to continued growth.

LBS Builders Merchants, founded in Llandeilo in 1931, has reached capacity at its current Head Office at the builders’ merchant branch in Llandeilo and in the coming months will be moving into new offices at Parc Amanwy, Ammanford.

LBS’ new Head Office will be home to well over 50 members of staff, with plans to actively recruit in a number of key areas to support its expanding branch network.

While moving from its Head Office from Llandeilo, the builders’ merchant branch and team will continue to trade at the site, on Station Road, ensuring that LBS continues to have a presence in its founding town.

LBS Managing Director Mark Davies said: “We are sad that we need to move our Head Office from Llandeilo after so many years.

“As the business has grown, we have recognised that we need more space and a much more modern working environment for our staff.

“We just could not find anywhere in Llandeilo to accommodate us.

“It is probably the case that we could have relocated anywhere within 30 miles, but our connection with Carmarthenshire, and the importance of being convenient for our valued staff made Ammanford a good choice. Carmarthen County Council worked with us to find accommodation and we were able to come to an agreement to acquire one of their buildings in Ammanford.

“This is a big investment for the business a large vote of confidence in our commitment to a long-term future as the No 1 Builders Merchant in South Wales”

Cllr Emlyn Dole, Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, said: “We’re delighted to have worked so closely alongside LBS Builders Merchants to help secure premises for their new headquarters in Ammanford.

“Their importance to Carmarthenshire can’t be overstated. Not only does LBS Builders Merchants make a much-valued contribution to the local economy, but their reputation for excellence helps raise Carmarthenshire’s profile in the business community across Wales and beyond.

“This is a company that’s fiercely proud of its Carmarthenshire roots, while building for an even more prosperous future in the county.”
