A WOMAN feared for her life when attacked by her former partner with a rock during a sustained assault which left her with a fractured nose.

The assault, which took place within a lorry cab on an industrial estate in Llandybie, on December 14 last year, saw attacker Christopher Ray Williams pick up a crowbar at one point - but he didn't use it.

The details of the attack were heard at Llanelli Magistrates' Court and Williams pleaded guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones said the pair had driven to the lorry in the Llandybie Estate in Llandeilo Road, Llandybie where Williams, 38, was living in the cab of the vehicle.

Mr Pritchard Jones said Williams' ex-partner had been walking to a friend's house when he drove past her "by coincidence and asked her to get into the car, which she did."

He added: "They went to the lorry cab, got in and spent some two hours talking."

While there, Williams' ex-partner received a phone call about her daughter's boyfriend being back at her home.

"This upset Williams as he didn't get on with the boyfriend," said Mr Jones.

"It triggered him to stand up in the HGV cab and lean over her.

"He began pulling her hair and punching her repeatedly to the head and body.

"He kneed her and she sat there trying to defend herself. Then the attack ended as quickly as it started.

"He picked up an ornamental rock which was in the cab with the words 'Gorseinon Rocks' written on it and hit her on the head, hands and back with it.

"He then got a crowbar and held it in the air. She was fearful he was going to hit her with it but he didn't hit her with the crowbar."

She suffered bruising to her arms and legs, a blackened and swollen hand and a CT scan revealed a fractured nose.

Following the attack she was "too frightened to leave the cab and they both fell asleep."

"She then left at 7.30am the next day, went home and called the police."

In a victim impact statement read to the court, Williams' ex-partner said of the lorry cab assault: "I feared for my life, I thought this was it for me and closed my eyes and gave up."

District Judge Christopher James sent williams to Swansea Crown Court where he will be sentence on February 15. He was remanded on custody until that date.
