Organisers of an Ammanford charity fun day have announced their latest fundraising challenge to raise cash for vital organisations in the community.

Since 2015, SFS Ltd have raised over £30,000 which has been used to purchase vital lifesaving equipment and has been shared across several local charities.

Over the years, main event organisers SFS have been joined by partners TRJ, CCTAL and CYFLE to host Super Fun Saturday.

In 2018, 34 volunteers completed the Welsh Three Peak Challenge in aid of six local charities, and this year organisers have decided to grow the event again and have planned another fundraising challenge.

A charity coastal walk is taking place on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 and organisers would like to invite all readers, organisations, friends and families to join them.

There are three options on the walk. Option one is to complete 53 miles over two days. Day one consists of a 26.5 mile walk from Pembroke to St Govans Chapel and day two consists of another 26.5 mile walk from Govans Chapel to Amroth.

Option two is to complete 26 miles over two days covering 13 miles on day one and day two.

The third option is to complete 13 miles over one of the days.

Ryan Jones, of SFS, told The Guardian: “We managed to raise £13,050 split between six charities last year with the money raised from the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, our cycle ride and our Super Fun Saturday charity day.

“We are hoping to raise a £25,000 this year.

“There has been a lot of interest in the coastal walk already and we would like to see people from all walks of life joining us for this huge challenge.

“My aim to get 100 participants this year.

“This is a community event for the community supporting local and national charities.

“It is a new year so why not challenge yourself and join us to raise funds for worthwhile causes in the area.

“If you are joining us this year, we have got a walking club and we go walking every Sunday and you are more than welcome to join us.”

All participants must raise at least £100 to take part and £50 for junior walkers.

Sponsor forms will be available from SFS HQ soon.

Super Fun Saturday will return on Saturday, June 29.
