Christmas is almost here again and it's time to light up Ammanford and get into the festive spirit.

The switch-on of the town lights marks the traditional start of the run-up to the big day and there is plenty going on this year to make this Christmas truly magical.

Ammanford will be hosting its official Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday, December 1.

Along with the switch-on of the stunning lights, there will be a fun packed day with the theme being Christmas Jumpers and Hats.

The festive fun will begin at 2pm.

At the top of the Arcade, there will be a fun packed inflatable section with a bungee run Christmas present challenge - where you will be able to see how far you can run whilst being tied to a bungee rope to gather some free presents before you get bungeed backwards.

There will also be a bouncy castle and a selfie booth for those family festive family photos.

Santa’s Grotto will be in the Arcade this year so please pay him a visit to say hello and you may walk away with a gift, but only if you’ve been good.

Radio Carmarthenshire will be taking over Quay Street getting everyone involved in the festive fun.

Organisers are proud to announce that Britain’s Got Talent 2018 finalist Gruffydd Wyn Roberts will be performing at the event and turning on the lights.

There will be more acts performing on the day so head on down to the town and have a boogie with some live music.

There will also be a Christmas market and a festive fair so why not purchase some homemade craft as last-minute gifts.

There are plenty of wonderful independent shops in the town as well as excellent food stores where you can have a bite to eat.

The switch-on of the Christmas lights will take place at 6pm followed by an amazing festive firework display.

From 6pm onwards there will be a Quay Street Christmas Disco where Santa’s elves will be on the look out for the best dancer, the best Christmas jumper and the best Christmas hat so make sure your dance moves are on point and you dress to impress.

This is sure to be one not to be missed so make sure you get in the Christmas spirit by visiting Ammanford this Saturday.

With so much happening in the town, the only question left to answer is whether you have been naughty or nice? Only you and Santa can answer that.
