A PAIR of brothers will appear at Swansea Crown Court for sentencing after admitting breaking into an Ammanford shop and stealing more than £2,000 worth of property.

Todd Jones, 23, of Penybanc Road, Ammanford, and Thomas Mears, 42, currently in prison at HMP Parc, both admitted breaking into Cartref in Ammanford arcade in February 2017.

Items worth more than £2,000 were taken by Jones and Mears and have still not been recovered.

The incident happened on the evening of February 28, 2017.

Prosecuting, Linda Baker said: “This incident has had a profound impact on the shop’s owner.

“Since the incident she can no longer be left to work alone in the shop, as she is worried she will be burgled again.

“The incident happened shortly after 9.30pm.

“The two forced entry into Cartref at the Arcade in Ammanford. Both then went to the Co-Op store nearby and purchased a bottle of San Miguel and black bin liners.

“They re-entered Cartref and made a search of the property, stealing high end clothing.

“The proprietor of the shop has returned the next day and found the shop in a mess. Todd Jones admitted it in interview. He said he went out for drinks and it all went wrong from there.

“He told police it wasn’t planned, it just happened.”

The pair will appear at Swansea Crown Court on October 19 for sentencing.
