An Amman Valley gamer is turning his hobby into a fundraising event to boost funds of a well-known charity.

Connor Strange is taking on a 24-hour gaming marathon for Children in Need on October 5.

The 23-year-old from Glanaman will be playing games from the comfort of his own bedroom from 9am on Monday, October 8 until Tuesday, October 9.

Connor told The Guardian: “It is something different and outside my comfort zone.

“I am planning on splitting the 24 hours up by playing a variety of different games.

“I enjoy the old school retro games such as Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot.

“I will be playing games on my PlayStation 2 console.”

The 23-year-old decided to raise money for Children in Need as he volunteers for a local theatre group which is partly funded by charity.

“I am a part of the Mess Up The Mess theatre company which receives backing from Children in Need, so I thought it was a good idea to give something back to them.

“As a grant maker, Children in Need support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

“With our support, they are able to change almost half a million young lives across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland every single year.”

Connor will also be live-streaming the game-a-thon live on YouTube so viewers can keep up to date to see how he’s coping.

“I enjoy playing video games but I have never done anything for such a long period before,” he said.

“The reason I got into playing these games is the fact that it provides a platform to meet new people and gives you the opportunity to discover new things.

“I’d like to raise as much possible for Children in Need but an ideal target in my mind is £500.

“Any amount raised with benefit the great network which is provided by the charity.”
