THE Father of an Ammanford boy who died following an incident at his comprehensive school has called for staff resignations.
Byron John, the father of 14-year-old Bradley John, delivered a letter to his son’s former school, St John Lloyd Comprehensive, in Llanelli, today, calling for the resignation of the headteacher.
Mr John said: “I have been waiting for a meeting with both the police and the school at the same time since the day of the incident, and nothing has happened.
“So I presented a letter addressed to the head teacher and school governors demanding the resignation of the staff concerned.
“The attempt to completely whitewash the school and exonerate it of any wrongdoing will not be allowed to happen. The school and its staff failed both Bradley and his sister Danielle.
“The support our family has received from the community is overwhelming, but it is very concerning to hear the amount of children and past pupils who have told of how they were affected by bullying here.
“Generally, people are saying that it is being swept under the carpet.”
The school have not commented on Mr John’s letter.
Gareth Morgans, director of education and children’s services at Carmarthenshire County Council, said: “Our focus at the moment is supporting everyone involved in this tragic incident.
“We have offered to meet with Mr John and his family to offer any further support that is needed and to hear any concerns that they have.
“We hope that this will take place early next week.”
