Ysgol Tycroes has offered its condolences to the family of a former pupil who died at a Llanelli comprehensive school.
Police were called to St John Lloyd School yesterday after concerns were raised about the wellbeing of a pupil, named locally as 14-year-old Bradley John.
A spokesman from Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Tragically, we can confirm that the child has passed away in hospital. His family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and there is no need for other parents to be concerned for the welfare of their children.
“Our thoughts are with the family and the school at this sad time.
“St John Lloyd is working with the local authority, the diocese and Dyfed-Powys Police in order to ensure pupils and staff are supported.”
Ysgol Tycroes tweeted condolences to the family of the pupil.
The school said: “Following the devastating news that a former pupil of Ysgol Tycroes tragically lost his life yesterday, our school would like to pass on our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family, as well as staff and pupils of St John Lloyd.
“Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.”
