A LLANDEILO dessert shop has been announced as a finalist at the fourth annual Food Awards Wales.

Heavenly Exquisite Desserts, in Rhosmaen Street, have been shortlisted in the dessert outlet category of the 2018 awards.

Tracey and Paul Kindred, who run the shop, said they were thrilled to be nominated.

Tracey added: “We only found out at Heavenly that our customers had been voting for us a few weeks ago when we had the email to say we were finalists.

“We are completely thrilled to have been nominated and made it through to the finals against such an esteemed list of our peers.

“We are crossing our fingers that we are lucky enough to bring the trophy back to Llandeilo.”

The winner will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony this week at Cardiff’s Exchange Hotel.

CEO of Creative Oceanic, the events agency behind the award, Irfan Younis said: “The tremendous amount of nominations received from the Welsh public is a testament to the hard work of all those working within the food sector.

“The Welsh food industry is worth an estimated £4.5 billion and as a result employs at least 240,000 people across Wales, making it extremely important to the Welsh economy.

“Through this awards ceremony, we hope to acknowledge this and celebrate the very best individuals and organisations in the sector and we wish all the finalists the best of luck.”

The Food Awards Wales will also launch The Welsh Restaurant Week 2018 from the 16th until the 22nd April 2018. The Welsh Restaurant Week is a social media campaign, designed to help raise awareness for welsh businesses by running different activities each day of the week.

The Welsh Restaurant Week provides an excellent opportunity for restaurants to attract new customers and encourages people to visit their favourite restaurant, try their menu and get special offers.

As well as the awards, the event will also help raise funds for the official charity partner, Cardiff Foodbank, who provides emergency food parcels to local people in crisis.
