A BETWS beauty is in the running for the Miss Wales crown this year - but didn't even know she had entered.
Rachel Smith, 19, who is among the final 30 stunners, claims she knew nothing about the competition and points the finger of blame at her pal Alex Roach.
But the former Amman Valley schoolgirl, who has modelled for S4C since she was 16, now has her sights set firmly on the prize. "I was surprised and shocked to find out what Alex had done," said Rachel. "But I'm really excited about to it now."
The winner will enjoy what promises to be the most exciting and rewarding reign since the competition began.
Thanks to its association with The Joshua Foundation, the winner will travel the world in an ambassadorial role.
Rachel, who has been sponsored by Capel Hendre cosmetics company Ella Florence, says raising money for charity is more important than seeing the world.
