A PENYGROES pensioner had a lucky escape last week when three men who tricked their way into her home left empty-handed.

The incident, which happened between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, has been linked with two similar attempts in the Towy Valley.

The 84-year-old woman was told there was a problem with the water and the assailants needed immediate access.

Three men got access to the property, although there is only a description for one available. He is described as white, aged between 25 and 30, clean-shaven wearing a suit, shirt and tie.

He is believed to have had a normal or local accent.

Police are advising the public to be vigilant, to report any suspicious persons or vehicles and also ask neighbours and family members to be vigilant on behalf of elderly members of the community.

Anyone who witnessed anything or has information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police on 0845 330 2000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
