A Garnant dog-lover is heartbroken after her beloved pet went missing.

Julie Edmonds, of Nant Gwineu Barn, in Llandeilo Road, is offering a £200 cash reward to anyone who can help return Gypsy - a four-year-old terrier - safe and sound.

Julie and her partner moved to the village on December 22. Within a month, Gypsy decided to go walkies - and has not been seen since.

The little white pooch was last seen at 11am on Thursday, February 1, wandering along Llandeilo Road in the direction of Brynaman.

Julie has been frantic since her favourite pet went missing and has put up 200 posters asking for information, but to no avail.

So desperate is she that she has now decided to offer a reward for Gypsy's safe return.

"Gypsy is lovely dog. She really is a sweet little thing," said Julie.

"We are all absolutely devastated that she has disappeared. We are heartbroken.

"I have three other dogs and they are all missing her, too.

"I am desperate for Gypsy's return and I have put up a reward for anyone who can help bring her home."

While Julie remains hopeful that she and Gypsy can be reunited, there is concern over a number of other dogs that have gone missing in the area in recent weeks.

Two weeks ago, the Guardian reported how Gaynor Hopkins, of Ystalyfera, was distraught when her three-year-old collies, Zac and Jed, went missing.

Like Julie, Gaynor put up posters around the area, with an appeal for the brothers' safe return broadcast on local radio -again to no avail.

According to Gaynor, Zac, Jed and Gypsy are not the only canines to have gone walkies.

"When I spoke to the dog warden, he said that a few had gone missing recently," said Gaynor.
