AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a man lost his arm when he was hit by a train between Ammanford and Llandybie on Saturday afternoon.
The 43-year-old was struck by the Shrewsbury to Swansea Arriva Trains Wales service shortly after 5pm.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to the line close to Brynmarlais level crossing, Waunfarlais Road, Llandybie, on Saturday after a report that a person had been struck by a train. Officers from BTP and Dyfed-Powys Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 5.27pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had suffered serious injuries.

He underwent surgery on Saturday night, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
“Officers remain in close contact with the man and his family.”
