LLANDEILO'S popular town band Band Tref is set to join forces with Cantorion Llandeilo Singers to create a thrilling evening of light entertainment from the great swing and jazz-band era.
On Saturday, October 22, expect songs stretching from the 1930s to the 1950s including Blue Moon, Deep Purple, S Wonderful, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Autumn Leaves, Ain't Misbehavin', Night and Day, along with solos by local musicians, specially selected pieces from the Band, songs from Gilbert Sullivan, and a beautiful version of Who is Silvia? will resound throughout the Civic Hall in Llandeilo.
Cantorion Llandeilo Singers have a tradition of including a light-hearted musical event in their annual programme, and this year is no exception. But for the first time, John Morgan, leader of the Band, and Gordon Kilby, conductor of the Singers, have collaborated to expand it into what is sure to be a thoroughly delightful and enjoyable evening.
Tickets to the fundraising concert cost £12, include a buffet supper in the interval, and are available from choir members, from Peppercorn in King Street, by phoning 01558 822594, or at the door.
There will be a licensed wine bar.
Venue: the Civic Hall, Crescent Road, Llandeilo SA19 6HN, Saturday, 22 October at 7.30 p.m.
