Ammanford Miners' Theatre will come alive with the sound of Christmas music when members of the Chamber Orchestra of Wales bring their special Candlelight Concert to the theatre on 19th December.

The concert will be hosted and conducted by the broadcaster and musician, Alwyn Humphreys, who is well-known for his appearances on S4C — notably Heno, Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol, and coverage of the Eisteddfod. Alwyn’s friendly presenting style, humour and panache have made him a long-standing favourite with audiences across Wales. He was for many years, the conductor of the world famous Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

Members of The Chamber Orchestra of Wales will perform a programme of traditional Christmas music, alongside some fun and interesting pieces. Alwyn Humphries has created a varied programme especially for the concert that audiences of all ages really enjoy. Mince pies and mulled wine will also be served on the evening for an added festive treat.

Talking ahead of the upcoming concert, the Orchestra’s Director, Gruffydd Harries said; “We have been presenting our Christmas by Candlelight concerts around Wales for a number of years. They are extremely popular, and we’re delighted to be bringing this concert to Ammanford on December 19th. The Miners’ is a magnificent venue and a lovely space to perform - especially when lit by the magical glow of flickering candles.”
