Swansea Grand Theatre has announced that Swansea’s favourite Grand Dame of pantomime Kevin Johns MBE will be returning in this year’s spectacular family pantomime Cinderella this December.

One of Wales’ most prolific performers, Kevin’s career has spanned musical theatre, stand-up comedy, presenting and pantomime, with this year’s appearance as one of Cinderella’s ugly sisters marks his 20th consecutive year at the Singleton Street venue.

Famous for his love of the city and huge charisma, Kevin has entertained thousands of audience members every Christmas with his trademark comedy, outrageous costumes and quick wit.

From Shakespeare to Songs of Praise, Kevin has appeared in numerous theatrical productions, television programmes and radio shows as well as being a newspaper columnist, author, fundraiser and recipient of the MBE from Her Majesty the Queen.

Kevin Johns explains: “It will be my 20th in a row and my 21st Grand Panto in total. Cinderella is one of Pantoland's most popular shows and I do love playing an Ugly Sister.

"It really is a show for all the family and famed for that magical transformation of Cinders into her Ball gown. I'm delighted to be back at the Grand especially after the production of Aladdin that Qdos produced for the Grand last year, which was a fantastic show!”

“I'm very curious as to who will be playing my sister and finding out who else will be in the company. See you at the ball.”

Councillor Robert Francis Davies, Cabinet member for Culture, Tourism and Major Projects stated: “We’re delighted to have the brilliant Kevin Johns on board for another year, it just wouldn’t be panto season without him. Cinderella is going to be a fantastic show and we’re looking forward to announcing the rest of this year’s star cast soon.”

Produced once again by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, audiences will join Cinders as she goes from rags to riches, outwits her horrible sisters and meets her dashing Prince Charming – if it all goes to plan!

With nearly 10,000 panto lovers having already reserved their tickets, audiences should ask their fairy godmother for a treat this festive season and make sure they get their tickets for Cinderella from the Swansea Grand Theatre Box Office before the clock chimes midnight!

Cinderella runs at Swansea Grand Theatre from Friday, December 14 until Sunday, January 13.
