Champion trainer Nicholls believes he had a real chance.

3) First Lieutenant (IRE) - 11 - 11-04 - Gigginstown House Stud - Mouse Morris IRE

A veteran top class chaser showing a return to form.

4) Wonderful Charm (FR) - 8 - 11-03 - Robin Geffen - Paul Nicholls

Has been in training all year for this race.

5) Ballynagour (IRE) - 10 - 11-02 - Allan Stennett - David Pipe

Has been in fine form.

6) O'Faolain’s Boy (IRE) - 9 - 11-01 - Trembath, Hyde, Outhart & Hill - Rebecca Curtis

Winner at Cheltenham Festival two years ago and was better than his finish in this season's Gold Cup.

7) Gilgamboa (IRE) - 8 - 11-01 - JP McManus - Enda Bolger IRE

One of the highest rated young horses in the race.

8) On His Own (IRE) - 12 - 11-01 - Andrea & Graham Wylie - Willie Mullins IRE

Fell in 2012 and 2013.

9) The Druids Nephew (IRE) - 9 - 11-00 - The Stonehenge Druids - Neil Mulholland

Winner of some big handicaps and was going well until he came down last year.

10) Triolo D'Alene (FR) - 9 - 11-00 - Sandy & Caroline Orr - Nicky Henderson

Previously won over these fences but disappointing in the National.

11) Rocky Creek (IRE) - 10 - 10-13 - The Johnson & Stewart Families - Paul Nicholls

Finished fifth here two years ago after tiring late on in the race.

12) Sir Des Champs (FR) - 10 - 10-13 - Gigginstown House Stud - Willie Mullins IRE

Trainer believes he has the perfect handicap to perform.

13) Holywell (IRE) - 9 - 10-12 - Gay Smith - Jonjo O'Neill

Could be very well handicapped after a second at Cheltenham.

Started favourite last year - finished 5th.

Good form on soft and heavy going.

Did well at the Cheltenham Festival to finish fourth in a handicap chase.

High class chaser.

Performed extremely well towards the end of the season.

Lightly raced in Ireland and could be on a good handicap.

Progressive handicapper from an under-rated stable.

A big winner at Punchestown could see him handicapped.

Runs in the colours of 1986 Grand National winner West Tip.

Trained by a Grand National winning trainer. Looking well handicapped.

28) Kruzhlinin (GER) - 9 - 10-07 - Paul & Clare Rooney - Philip Hobbs

Tenth in 2014, but now with champion jockey elect Richard Johnson in the saddle.

29) Rule The World - 9 - 10-07 - Gigginstown House Stud - Mouse Morris IRE

Second in last year's Irish National.

30) Just A Par (IRE) - 9 - 10-06 - Graham Roach & Paul Barber - Paul Nicholls

Finally fulfilled his early promise when winning the Gold Cup.

Poor form over the previous couple of years has seen him slip down the ratings.

Winner of the Cork Grand National in 2014 and fifth at Aintree in last year's Becher Chase.

Well fancied for the Welsh National but unseated his rider.
