October 15 sees the launch of the first ever ‘Wonders of Autumn’ campaign from McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend, which runs until November 2.

The campaign heralds iconic pieces from the new season collections, as selected by best friends and emblems of cool, effortless style, Laura Jackson and Alice Levine.

This season will see fashion favourites Laura and Alice offer McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend shoppers their unique, personal advice on those much coveted wardrobe staples.

Their Wonders of Autumn “Perfect 10” outlines the AW hero pieces that stand the test of time, from the little black dress and designer handbag, to the best pair of jeans and the cosy chunky knit.

Laura Jackson and Alice Levine’s AW Perfect 10 for McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend

1. Classic white shirt

Laura Jackson says, “The Classic white shirt is a staple, and goes with everything and is great to layer up. You can style it by rolling up the sleeves. My new favourite is wearing a polo neck underneath.”

Alice Levine says, “A crisp, white, cotton shirt is an item that will always be a fashion must-have. Try boxy shapes for a more modern look. Combine with blue denim for daytime and under an A-line shift for the evening.”

2. Jeans

Laura Jackson says, “A girl can never have too many jeans, denim is huge right now! A kick flare with some heels and a pussy bow blouse will bring you bang up to date.”

Alice Levine says, “Jeans are no longer the casual option to only wear with a t-shirt, they are a great dressed up staple too when teamed with a heel. Black skinnies are a great addition to your wardrobe (I've been living in mine!), and this season is the time to try some indigo shades in jeans too. The 70s aren't going anywhere so a little flare is good purchase - very elongating.”

3. Black Trousers

Laura Jackson says, “A pair of black trousers are chic and timeless - wear with a metallic polo neck for a Françoise Hardy look.”

Alice Levine says, “Cast from your mind the idea of the "work trouser". Black trousers provide an essential building block for a simple, contemporary outfit. Teamed with a little cashmere jumper or with a shirt tucked in, they are one of the most versatile items to buy. Play around with shapes from a cigarette pant to a wide leg.”

4. A/W Footwear

Laura Jackson says, “I have so many black boots I have stopped counting but these are essential for any AW wardrobe. I think simple boots are best - wear bare legged with a dress until it gets too cold, then add a pair of thick black or opaque tights.”

Alice Levine says, “Gone is the spindly stiletto heel - everyone is looking for the perfect chunky look. Chunky heels are a brilliant contrast to an otherwise feminine silhouette, adding a bit of edge. In boots with a block heel look for zip and buckle details, and with sandals, an interesting colour or texture like ruby suede.”

5. Leather Jacket

Laura Jackson says, “A good leather jacket will last forever! This is something worth investing in, wear with jeans or to add some masculinity to a dress.”

Alice Levine says, “The leather jacket is an item you will come back to season after season. On warmer days team your leather jacket with a midi dress and boots and as the cold creeps in try with a chunky knit.”

6. Little Black Dress

Laura Jackson says, “EVERYONE needs a LBD. I think a shift shape suits most and when you’re having an ‘off’ day a shift won’t cling to your middle. You can reinvent the LBD time and time again!”

Alice Levine says, “The LBD is such a wardrobe lifesaver when you have that night-out outfit panic. A piece you can slip into and accessorise or simply wear as it is. I go for long sleeved styles and like a Peter Pan collar which you could add with a simple white shirt.”

7. Blazer

Laura Jackson says, “A blazer will adds a nice silhouette and tailoring to any outfit – it’s important you get a blazer that fits correctly. Wear with ripped black jeans and some classic boots to bring your blazer into the 21st century.”

Alice Levine says, “I've seen so many incredible suiting looks around but never seem to have the occasion to wear one. A blazer provides a tailored look - you can bring the formality down with jeans and heels.”

8. Designer Handbag

Laura Jackson says, “A black leather handbag needs to be chic and timeless and go with everything in your wardrobe - this season is all about the exclusive Osprey black leather handbag available at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend – it’s great for all occasions!”

Alice Levine says, “I am a bit of a bag fiend but get frustrated swapping between bags for meetings and then for off-duty. For winter you want to be able to carry all of your essentials without carting round a suitcase! The exclusive Osprey black leather handbag available at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend is ideal for work, then play, then work again.”

9. Winter Coat

Laura Jackson says, “Your AW coat is so important, who cares what you’re wearing underneath if you’re wearing a great coat?! Navy is super chic and goes with everything; this season is all about a coat that wraps and belts. I know I’ll be investing in a gorgeous one from Jaeger… wear with your hair tucked in for that ‘catwalk’ look!”

Alice Levine says, “I get over excited about getting a new winter coat, it summons all of those nostalgic back to school feelings (but without any of the homework!). The Jaeger Navy Winter Coat exclusive to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend has all of the boxes ticked. It feels incredible on, the shape is classic with a twist and navy is definitely my choice over black. Make like Parisians and go for navy!”

10. Chunky Knit

Laura Jackson says, “I could not live without a chunky knit – it’s essential to any winter wardrobe. I like to go for a cream knit that’s a bit longer on the body. The knit should be warm and cosy but still stylish - wear with your favourite pair of jeans and team with some stilettos for a night down the pub.”

Alice Levine says, “A chunky knit will look great with a little leather skirt or paired with skinnies. It's a statement in itself so you don't need much more detailing. A statement neckline like an oversized polo can be very flattering.”
