What the papers say

Manchester United are seeking to tie down Marcus Rashford with a bumper pay deal as big clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus look to target the 21-year-old, the Mirror reports. United are poised to double the forward’s wages to £150,000 a week, it says, in the hope to tempt their star man to a long-term deal at Old Trafford.

Chelsea are hoping to convince Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Stamford Bridge with a £70,000-a-week offer, the Mirror says. Despite all signs suggesting the 18-year-old wants to walk away from the Blues, the club are reluctant to let go of their forward, who is said to be wanted by Bayern Munich.

Ashley Cole could be teaming up with his former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard – this time at Derby. The Mail says Lampard, who took on his first managerial role with the Championship side in May last year, is confident free-agent Cole can bolster the Rams’ promotion chances, with talks between the former colleagues under way.

With Harry Kane side-lined with an ankle injury, Tottenham are on the look out for a forward this transfer window, according to the Independent. It says Spurs could potentially turn to previous targets Malcolm and Antonio Sanabria to try to strengthen their attacking options.
