Llandybie RFC saw off Tregaron in their first home match of the new season with a score of 32 to 12.
Llandybie was hopeful for a positive result in this Division 4 West B fixture.
Although Tregaron held the early territory, Llandybie's defence was well organised.
20 minutes in and Rhys Evans, claimed the opening try for Llandybie, converted by Iestyn Richards.
Building on this momentum, more successful attacks were carried out, culminating in a try for Tom Howell at the 25-minute mark.
Not long after, Merlyn McClelland burst through the visitor's defence, securing another try for the hosts and pushing their lead to 17 – 0.
Just before halftime, Tregaron's Reuben Meanie crossed near the corner, leaving the score at 17 – 5 going into the break.
Yet, Llandybie remained undeterred.
Five minutes after the restart, centre Keri Davies managed to shake off two tackers to score.
Tregaron's attempts to fight back resulted in a few high tackles, which saw them given yellow cards.
Utilising this advantage, Connor Butler managed to score, widening the gap for Llandybie and earning a four-try bonus point.
Despite a strong forward carry by Dylan Davies leading to a try, converted by Dewi Jones, Tregaron's efforts were met with resistance from Llandybie.
In the heat of one faceoff, a Llandybie player received a red card for confronting a Tregaron player threatening a younger player from the home team.
Despite an unexpected injury to full back Iestyn Richards, Llandybie showed no sign of slowing down.
In fact, a powerful run from Chris Powell, led to a try from Steffan Jones, which sealed the win for Llandybie with the final score standing at 32 – 12.
Merlyn McClelland was named player of the match. Llandybie will be playing Penybanc away next week.
